5 Advantages To Online Voting

When it comes to voting, gone are the days of long lines at the polling place.  Because of technology, folks can now cast a ballot from the comfort of their own home without having to return a ballot in the mail after an absentee vote.  There are several reasons why this is beneficial not just for the voter, but also your community.

Whether you’re casting a ballot from home or at the polling place, it’s important to exercise your right to vote.  If you’re over the age of 18, it’s your right to vote.  By doing so, you’re using your voice to make a difference in your community, state or country.  Many men and women died to grant and secure that right so don’t take it lightly.

Online elections are cost effective.  Large sums of money are saved when it comes to printing and mailing absentee ballots.  Fewer election officials may be needed on the day of the vote at the polling place too.  That can be a savings to many cash-strapped communities around the country.  Depending on how it’s set up, online voting is very secure.  There are safeguards in place to protect the identities of those who are casting a ballot.  It also allows a voter with disabilities more secrecy when they vote, and an election official isn’t helping them through the process.

Online elections eliminate the risk of mismanagement or fraud.  There’s an audible trail left, which should keep things on the up and up.

Voting online is a more accurate way of doing things.  Electronic ballots are not rejected, mis-marked or invalid.  Results are automatically calculated, eliminating the need for manual tabulation or recounts.  Spoiled ballots become a thing of the past.  This form of voting can also be more appealing to young voters and increasing voter turnout.
